A query fan-out is the set of smaller searches an AI engine expands your prompt into before it answers. One prompt like "best CRM for startups" can fan out into several background queries.
Why it matters Fan-outs reveal the exact sub-queries you need to be discoverable for. Where an engine reports them (e.g. Gemini grounding) we capture the real ones; otherwise we show predicted fan-outs.
