How do I research prompts with Keywords & prompts?
Keywords & prompts (formerly Prompt Volumes) turns a keyword into search demand, suggested AI prompts and an intent breakdown, then tracks the prompts you pick.
Keywords & prompts, previously called Prompt Volumes, helps you decide which prompts are worth tracking in AI search. It now lives in the Plan section of the sidebar rather than under Analytics, and old Prompt Volumes links redirect there automatically. If you know search volume from traditional SEO, think of this as the bridge between keyword demand and the prompts people ask AI engines.
When you research a keyword, WriteWorks looks up real search demand and difficulty for it in the country you choose, then offers prompts built around that keyword for you to track. Once prompts are tracked, the results dashboard shows how they are performing across AI engines, with Exact and Broad matching: Exact counts prompts whose text equals the keyword, while Broad counts any prompt containing it.
The dashboard has three views. Overview shows activity for the matching prompts over the selected date range. Intent classifies each prompt as Informational (learning or understanding), Commercial (researching before a purchase), Transactional (ready to buy, book or sign up) or Navigational (looking for a specific brand or page). Keyword Hierarchy groups related prompts under the keyword. You can filter by date range, platform and region, and save keywords to lists.
The tracked appearances figure counts how often your own tracked prompts were answered by each engine in the window. It is execution data from your tracking, not an external estimate of how many people ask that question.
How to research prompts
- Open Keywords & prompts from the Plan section of the sidebar.
- On Research, enter a keyword and choose the country.
- Review the demand and difficulty, and the suggested prompts.
- Track the prompts worth monitoring.
- Use the Overview, Intent and Keyword Hierarchy views to judge where to focus.
- Discover suggests candidate prompts from your Search Console queries, the searches you already rank for.
- Your prompts lists everything you track, and History keeps your past searches.
Tip: use intent to match prompts to goals. Informational prompts suit content that answers questions, while Commercial and Transactional prompts signal buying intent worth prioritising.
