What is the Context manager?
Context is everything the AI knows about your brand and you. It builds six records from your sources, flags gaps to answer and feeds every AI feature in WriteWorks.
Context is the place where WriteWorks keeps everything the AI knows about your brand and about you. It is built from your brand profile, your documents, your synced sources and the answers you give, and every AI feature reads it: the editor, Ask AI, agents, briefs and content plans. This article explains what is in Context and how to keep it useful.
The Overview tab shows your Knowledge files: six structured records that WriteWorks writes about your brand. They are Company & positioning, Offerings & capabilities, Audience, Competitors, Strategy & content policies, and Execution. Each record is marked Complete, Partial or Empty, says what it covers and suggests what to feed it with, such as a positioning doc or a content style guide. Open a record to read its summary and sources, add Team notes, or use Update from sources to rebuild it.
Below the records, Identified gaps lists the questions WriteWorks could not answer from your sources. Gaps are marked Needs data or Needs review. Your answers are treated as authoritative, so they always win over what the sources say. Suggested next steps point you to the quickest improvements.
The other tabs
- Brand profile holds your brand's Identity, Tone, Audience, Goals, Buyer Personas and Preferences, including the words you never want mentioned.
- Personal is your own context: your role, work and writing style. Only you can see it.
- Knowledge base holds the documents WriteWorks reads.
- Skills stores reusable writing instructions for the editor.
- Brand kits hold the voice, guidelines and visual identity for your brand, sub-brands or campaigns.
- Synced data connects live sources, such as your website or CMS, that re-sync daily.
How to set up your Context
- Open Context from the sidebar.
- Fill in the Brand profile tabs and click Save.
- Add documents in Knowledge base, or connect your website in Synced data.
- Back on Overview, click Rebuild records, which can take a minute or so.
- Work through Identified gaps: type an answer and click Save answer, or Dismiss a question that does not apply.
- Add your Personal context so drafts and answers fit your role.
Rebuilding records uses your organisation's AI tokens. If you cannot edit a record or answer a gap, ask someone who manages your brand profile, such as an Owner or Admin.
Where did Brand Hub go? Brand Hub is now part of Context. Brand identity, tone, audience, goals, personas and preferences live in Context → Brand profile, documents moved to Knowledge base and skills to Context → Skills. Old Brand Hub and Knowledge links redirect automatically.
Tip: answer the open gaps first. They are the quickest way to move a record from Partial to Complete.
