How do I see the AI answers behind a number?
Evidence opens the stored AI answers behind any AI visibility number or chart point, and Answer X-ray shows one answer in full.
Every number in AI visibility comes from real answers the AI engines gave to your tracked prompts. Evidence lets you open those answers, so you can check exactly what was said, who was named and which pages were cited before you act on a change.
There are three ways in. Click a point on a trend chart, or drag across a range, and choose See the evidence from the menu that appears. Click a number, such as a KPI tile, a row in a rank table or a cell in a topic, region or platform breakdown, wherever it offers to show the answers behind it. Or open Evidence from the AI visibility menu to browse answers with your current filters.
Evidence has three tabs. Answers lists each stored answer with its date, engine and prompt, and whether you were mentioned. By brand shows Visibility, Share of voice and Avg position for every brand named in those answers. Citations lists each citation, or groups them By page or By domain. You can search answers and prompts, sort by Newest first, Oldest first or Best position first, and Export CSV from any tab.
Select an answer to open its Answer X-ray, the full record of that one response
- Properties: the engine, date and time, region, persona, topic and how the answer was collected, such as live web search or model memory with no web search.
- Prompt: the exact text sent to the engine.
- Brands named: every brand in the order it appears, with your brand and your tracked competitors marked.
- Searches the engine ran: the web searches behind the answer. Where an engine doesn't report them, they're marked Predicted.
- Response: the full answer text.
- Citations: every page the answer cited.
How to see the answers behind a number
- Open AI visibility from the Measure section of the sidebar.
- Click a point on a chart, or drag across a range, and choose See the evidence.
- Read the Answers tab, or switch to By brand or Citations.
- Search or sort to find the answers you care about.
- Select an answer to open its Answer X-ray.
- Click Copy link to share that exact answer with a teammate.
- Evidence reads answers that are already stored, so it uses no AI tokens.
- The filters you've set carry into Evidence, so the answers match the number you clicked.
- The same chart menu lets you add a milestone to mark something that happened on that day.
- If you use Truth Check, the Answer X-ray also shows a fact check of the claims in that answer.
Tip: when a number moves sharply, open Evidence for the days either side of the change. Comparing the answers usually shows whether a new competitor, a lost citation or a change in what the engine searched for is behind it.
