How does keyword research work? (Ahrefs / Semrush)
Connect your own Ahrefs or Semrush API key for keyword volume + difficulty in Prompt research. No key? We suggest prompts from your sitemap + knowledge base instead.
Keyword data (search volume, difficulty, related terms, SERP) is bring-your-own-key. Connect EITHER Ahrefs OR Semrush in Settings → Integrations — paste your API key and we validate it before saving. Once connected, the keyword box in Prompt research returns real demand data, and content refresh uses it too.
No provider connected? You're not blocked. Generating prompts still works — we ground suggestions on your sitemap URLs, your knowledge-base documents, your brand profile and competitors. The keyword-volume box simply shows a "connect a provider" hint until you add a key.
Note: Semrush's standard API doesn't expose per-keyword SERP results, so Semrush users get volume + difficulty + related terms (no SERP enrichment); Ahrefs provides all of it.
